Even though I obviously know what it is, I thought of E.T. as well when I uploaded it. It has that exact same look and feel. But it's not. In fact, it's really far away from E.T. by every possible measure.
Un-fucking-believable (pardon my French)! Arbogast got it - again! It's Happiness. My next clue this morning was going to be the woman in this room is singing a song on her guitar that contains the title of the movie just before receiving word that someone close to her is dead. But no matter now, Arbo got it and leads with four points. At this rate I'll be buying Arbo a DVD before the New Year.
I almost did the shots immediately following where the plastic bag comes off Jon Lovitz's head but I figured that would be too easy. This was a good one though, stumping everyone for longer than I thought.
Actually, I am currently working on another montage and it's pretty super freakin' awesome! It includes more than just music to clips, with clips also used with their original sound and dialogue as well. Also it has a text intro and then when the music starts the first face you see is ... oh, it's just too damn cool to give away.

E.T.?
E.T. is my guess, too!

You're lying. It's E.T isn't it?
Pan: The Movie.
No, I'm not lying, it's not E.T.
I'll let it go a little more then I'll start giving clues.
And Bill, you're so close except for one thing: You're not really close at all.
Oh and just so everyone knows, I won Who Goes There no. 8. It was pretty exciting.
Poltergeist?
Nope, not Poltergeist either.
Okay, first clue: Made in the nineties. Not much of a clue I know but that's it for now.
Toy Soldiers?
Hook?
Second clue: Definitely not PG13. Very disturbing subject matter. Multiple characters and stories.
Kids?
No, not Kids either but good guess. The bedroom shown is the bedroom of a grown woman. Who plays guitar.
Happiness.
Girl Interrupted?

That Jane Adams is a cutie.

Swear to Pete, the first movie that came to mind was Beyond the Door.
I've never seen that, nor have it on DVD, but I just read up on it and saw that WB tried to sue for copyright infringement of The Exorcist but lost.
Well, there's your next montage: camera pans through slightly unsettling children's bedrooms (and the bedrooms of adults who never really grew up).
